Backstop Neural team members attended the North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS) 2026 Annual Meeting in Las Vegas where Pedro Rocha-Flores, PhD, VP of Engineering, presented new preclinical findings on a thin cervical spinal cord stimulation (SCS) paddle lead designed to support standard surgical techniques while improving in situ conformability and stability.

Pedro Rocha, PhD, Principal Investigator and VP of Engineering, will lead this NSF-funded project to develop a minimally invasive SCS lead that deploys after percutaneous placement. By uniting needle-based delivery with an expandable paddle design, BackStop Neural will build toward a platform that supports clinician workflow and broad neuromodulation needs—from chronic pain to movement-recovery research.
